Default 1992 Sentra heater problems - 01-01-2006 , 09:25 PM

My daughter's 1992 sentra SE-R, 4dr sedan AC quit last summer. She didn't
have it looked at. This winter, her heater fan quit. The blower motor is
fine, but it will not work on any speed selected. Could these two problems
be connected in any way? I have the blower motor hooked directly (threw a
switch) to the battery and it will run on high speed when turned on. This
is getting her by until I research the problem. Can anyone shed any light
on these problems. Could the blower fan resistor keep the fan from running
on any speed? I am going to replace it as soon as I find one in town, but
was looking for some advice. I'm only 72, and my daughters still think I
can fix anything, so I have a reputation to uphold! Help! Thanks

If the blower will not run on any speed... but will run when you hook
up an alternate source... then either the blower switch is bad... or
you have no DC power running to it. It's my opinion that the blower
resistor pack isn't causing your problem if the fan won't run at any
speed. Of course check your fuses first... followed by a power
availability probe directly at the switch.
