Default 2000 Nissan Sentra camber and caster question - 02-06-2005 , 10:04 PM

My Nissan 2000 Sentra pulls to the right and I hear a jarring sound in
the front right wheel area while driving at speeds between 30-40 miles
per hour on streets.

I took it to an alignment shop and this is what they came up with:

Front Left
Actual Before Specified Range
0.5(Red) 0.5 -1.2-2.3 Camber
1.0 1.0 0.9-2.4 Caster
0.07 0.14 0.05-0.13 Toe

Front Right
Actual Before Specified Range

-1.3 -1.3 -1.2-0.3 Camber
0.3 0.3 0.9-2.4 Caster
0.10 0.05 0.05-0.13 Toe

The alignement shop told me that the camber and caster is not
adjustable on the Nissan Sentra because the manufacturer does not
provide a specification. However, looking at the computerized
printouts, my vehicle's front right camber and caster numbers seem to
be quite a bit out of place. Can I get this fixed? Is it safe to
drive the car with the camber and caster being so much out of place?
Would I have to go to a frame shop? What kind of repair cost would I
be looking at?

I would greatly appreciate help from anybody with any input on this
matter.

Thanks,

Tom

Ever wrecked? Another simple thing to try is swapping thw wheels left to
right and see if the pull moves to the other side. if so the tires are
causing the pull.

They are right, it's not adjustable, if it's out, something is bent.

Now there can be a problem. many of these "computerized printouts" are made
from machines that are either out of calibration, user by unskilled people
or otherwise just plain wrong. You should be able to easily see this
almost 2 degrees of camber with your eyes and the car would all but swerve
off the road when you let go of the wheel. My guess here is you should do
as I said, swap the front tires from left to right then try a different
aligment shop for a second opinion before you do anything drastic like
pulling the frame etc.
