Default 2003 Maxima headlight flasher - 07-15-2003 , 04:40 PM

Has anyone installed an alternating headlight flasher in a 2003 Nissan
Maxima. If so, any problems or issues?

Thanks
Allen

True, but there are volunteer firefighters that do.

Not too many PD's use Maximas as cruisers, so it's really a moot
point, don'tcha think?

Actually, the city of Miami (among others) use Maximas as pursuit vehicles.
I wish I had a link, but I saw some video shot from a helicopter last year
that showed a bunch of generic police vehicles chasing a perp at high speed
(don't remember what he was driving). Anyway, these two Maximas(02s), a
gold and a silver, blow by the other cop cars like they're standing still,
and force the suspect into a parking lot where they yank him out the car and
arrest him. It's some really cool video.

I dont think its a good idea to flasher on HID lights. You are asking
for trouble if you do. First the very expensive bulbs are not designed
to be turned on and off constantly. I beleive there is an except in the
users manual about this but I am not sure. Their arcing is someting that
must be constant and you will see how these lights slowly stabilize when
you turn them on in a dark gagrge. Furthermore the digital power
supplies are not designed for duty cycles like that. If you want to do
this type of thing I reccommend doing it to incandescent fog lamps.
