Default lots of problems!!! sentra SER Spec V 2002 - 09-11-2003 , 01:08 PM

On december last year I hit a curb, I swear I was going at more than 5 miles
an hour. Only my left side tire hit the curb.
Then I was told that my wheel was bent, so I had someone bend it back to
normal, worked just fine, the car was pulling a bit. So I went to get an
aligment, I was told the left lower control arm was bent and needed fixing.
I had that bent back to "normal". A few months later, my car started making
a tick or clicking noise, feeling on the steering wheel while turning while
stopped or really low speeds. Took the car in today to the nissan dealer
service, and they said that:
My lower arm is weak because of the bending back.
My power steering rack is damaged, and my strut assembly is noisy on the
inner shaft. They quoted me over 1600 of parts and labor.
So my question is, will I find this cheaper anywhere? usually my problem in
the past has been that there arent many Spec Vs out there so junk yards dont
have the parts I need. Are any of the parts I need the same as regular
sentras?
What are your suggestions?
The car drives fine but I dont wanna drive it too much with that stuff
broken.

I think you have 2 options

1. spend the money and get it fixed
2. don't spend the money and live with the problem

For anyone else that this happens to, you might want to file a claim
with your insurance company. My wife, when it was icy, ran over one of
those cement blocks that stops your car in the parking lot. She had to
have the car (a Windstar Van) lifted up to get it off the block. I took
it to the body shop to have the front bumper replaced. I took it to
another shop later for front-end alignment and they said the sub-frame
was damaged and needed to be replaced. Would cost $1,000 for the
subframe. I took it back to the body shop, and my insurance company cut
a supplemental payment for the repair. Part of the reason for this was
that the repair was guaranteed for one year, since I went to the shop
that my insurance company had a contract with.

Jim

(P.S. -- on the negative side, my insurance company "disowned" my wife
because of the accident, and I switched companies).

or I could just do a bit of research and find a lot of people on a B15 forum
that have hte same issue and their dealers did the work under warranty
because it has nothing to do with hitting the curb.
