Default needing help with a "95 Altima Stalling - 06-19-2005 , 01:35 AM

My car has been going down hill with stalling and starting problems.
It stared with driving fine for 30-60 minutes then if I turned it off
I couldn’t get it to start up, it would try to turn over but seem not
to get spark or gas. If it was to sit and cool down for 2 hours or
more it would start up and drive fine. Now it has gotten to where it
will stall when drive for 20-45 minutes, like it runs out of gas. And
if left to sit for a 2 hours or more it will start up. Things that
have been replaced: plugs, distributor, roater, air filter, and fuel
filter. Mechanic was not able to duplicate eariler problem. When the
car is running it is functioning great!

Can anyone help? Thanks,

Well... since it does this routinely for you... you can be instrumental
in the diagnosis. To isolate the problem... when it happens... remove a
spark plug wire and insert something metallic so it sticks out the end
of the rubber boot. While an assistant cranks the engine... move the
metallic object (stuck in the spark plug boot) close to the engine
block or some vehicle ground. If you see a spark jumping to ground...
your problem appears to be fuel related. If no spark is seen and
heard... your problem is ignition related. That would go a long way to
solving your problem.
