Default 97 Pathfinder Auto Transmission Issue? - 04-14-2005 , 03:19 PM

Around 38-50MPH under slow acceleration mostly or some decceleration I
have a vibrating feeling like I'm going over a bunch of tiny bumps....
lasts for a fraction of a second to five or so seconds. I think it
must be that the transmission is slipping I'll rev way up before
accelerating some times (not all the time) but this seems to have been
getting a little worse. I have an extended warranty that should cover
it but I have to be able to demonstrate and it doesn't happen all the
time - and I've only a month left on the extended.

Some other times I have this slipping/vibrating problem - and
sometimes It'll shift much harder than (I think) it should. Sometimes
this vibrating is incredibly noticable like I'm going over rather
large bumps at speed.

Would like to know if anyone could tell me more....

Also - I have a problem with the Car making a clunk and the rear end
settling after a stop --- sometimes I'll stop and then a few seconds
later the rear will drop drastically -- unsure of how much exactly but
it feels like a lot - Like I've started to free fall after a jump.-
was told there is a tech bulletin on this and that it's a unfixable
problem with the drive shaft...... but I'd like to know more and
should the extended warranty cover it?

if the vibration is at highway speeds over 35 mph try this test..lightly
step on the brakepedal when vibration starts...i mean lightly just
barely..if the vibration stops the torque converter clutch is slipping..
advise converter replacement if this is the issue and trans service to clean
excess converter clutch from filter and pan.ASE certified transmission
tech...dont buy a new computer for your car repair yours ask me for info
