Hmmm... is this switch is for the cruise control... then when does it
activate in neutral and park.

Sorry, I don't agree... if this switch is used for the cruise
control... then why does it function both in neutral and park. What
possible purpose could it serve for saving the engine when moving the
shifter to park? Please explain.

OK... so the neutral switch only engages in the neutral position on the
manual? That makes sense for the speed control engine rev safety.
Thanks for the info.

Neutral switch is used to stop the cruise control from blowing your engine
if you slip the trans. out of gear under cruise
My car does not have the cruise option.
I am guessing this switch does nothing in my case in your opinion?

Where do you take this information from?
I am facing two conflicting opinions:
One from you, about this switch used in cruise control only
Second from Peter Hill about the idle strategy.

There is no park on the original posters manual trans, you just
leave it in 1st or reverse depending on direction of slope.
I am planning on remote starter installation, so I need to teach
myself to leave the car on neutral gear with manual brake on...
It is hard force of habbit :-)

It uses a different idle strategy in neutral - one that ensures the
electrical,
power steering and air-con loads don't stall the engine. Yes an
idiot can defeat it by flooring the clutch and keeping the trans in
gear but that is supposed to be a transient condition. Any complaint
regarding engine idle during such misuse would result in the owner
getting a driving and operation lesson.
Should I feel a diiferent rpms between engine in neutral and
in gear with floored clutch? I do not feel a thing being different...
I do not have rpm gauge, so I can only guessimate rpms.

Yes, only in neutral. There is no "park" possition in manual transmission
:-)
