Default problem removing ps belt on 1997 sentra - 08-23-2005 , 12:31 PM

loosened locknut on adjuster. backed off adjuster bolt. loosened what looks
like pivot bolt under ps pump. belt will not loosen. do I further need to
use a pry bar to force the pump pulley inward to loosen the belt? Any
other suggestions!

If it is anything like my Maxima, you actually need to tighten the
adjuster bolt...

Cheers,

Thanks njmodi, but the chilton manual seems to indicate otherwise. I did
initially tighten the adjuster bolt with no luck. I hate these front
wheel drive cars. Until recently I had a 1981 Datsun 210. What a pleasure
in the engine compartment!

yes, often a pry bar is needed here. but make sure you have indeed
loosened
the pivot bolt for the ps pump (and not the pivot bolt for something
else).
