I have an 84 with Z engine and had a similar problem.
It was the Fuel relay which is located on the inside of the Truck on the
passenger side wheel wall.
The Relay that you ned to replace is the larger one. (There are 2 there.)
Best of luck,
Sam

Wow Mind Melt.......you are so helpful. To me it does sound like a pump
relay or maybe dirt in the fuel lines. Maybe you can remove both ends of
the fuel lines and blow them through with an air compressor. I had
something similar on a 78 Datsun 280. Good luck.

I think just because people dont know the technical terms for some things or
are not totally technically inclined doesnt mean others should slam them.
There is a time in everyones life when they dont know how an engine works or
how the finer points of a fuel injection system work. You either go to
college or learn from others or even learn by mistakes you make. I am
colourblind and dont cant troubleshoot the electrics in my car, does that
mae me stupid? Jess is unsure of some of the lectonics and mechanics in her
car cos she has no prior experience, does that make her stupid?

Did you read the stunning illiteracy of the post? Somebody that out of
touch
isn't going to have the brains to troubleshoot a toaster let alone a fuel
injected computer controlled engine.

I grew up and was born in England. Doesnt mean i have perfect grammar. One
thing i have learnt is that most Americans, wether they realise it or not
are illiterate. A lot spell words how they say them. I was actually
appauled by the level of English in this country. To understand English
gramar and compasition is to understand the German language. English
derived from German in the way grammar and sentences are set out. Not
everyone has great English, even i said "aint" and "yall" and i have only
lived in the US two years. Do a person a favour and give them a break.

No, Jess is stupid because Jess doesn't have the grammatical skills of a 3
grader. My now 11 year old son wrote more lucent and more properly
punctuated
sentences than Jess when he was in preschool.
