Hi,

2003 Maxima, 70k miles.

Wife calls me on her cell phone to say car has died at side of the
road. I arrive at the scene and attempt to start car. Hear starter
solenoid clicking, battery is dead.

Attach jumper cable from other car and Maxima starts. Run it for a few
minutes then attempt to frive home. Car dies after a few minutes.

Go and get a new battery and install. Old battery is at least 3 years
old, Honda brand. Car starts and all is well. Run the card myself for
3 days, then give to wife saying it is fixed. Later that day I get a
call to say car has died, battery is flat.

There is no check engine light. I assume the alternator is faulty.

Any input appreciated.

Battery won't charge = weak or dead alternator.
You can check this by turning on the headlights
and starting the car. Let the engine idle down near
500 RPM. When you rev the engine, the head lights should
get brighter. Best that you do this at night.
