I wonder if anybody has any suggestions about a problem I'm having with my 93 Maxima (85K miles). When I come to a stop the brake pedal pulsates, pushing back against my foot. This happens only during the last couple of seconds of the stop, when I am going very slowly and subtly *reducing* pressure on the brake pedal. As your foot comes up off the pedal and you are just about to stop the pedal starts pulsing and pushing back at you. The car still stops, but it's very disconcerting. The ABS light does NOT come on. I assume that the ABS is being triggered, and *perhaps* there's something wrong with the sensor or its alignment. This began to happen after I had a front brake job, but whether the two are related I don't know. My mechanic has taken the front brakes apart and put them back together and sees no problems. We've also disconnected each of the front ABS sensors in turn. Unplugging either one solves the problem, and causes the ABS light to come on. I also note that the brakes typically chatter a little bit during the first stop of the day. This is intermittent and has been going on for years. But it's only during that first stop. Thanks VERY much to anybody who can shed any light on this. Steve |

one of the wheel speed sensors is bad, a good technician that knows how to read a service manual and use a volt/ohm meter can isolate the malfunctioning sensor. |
