I thought I would throw this out to the group. I have a 2006 Maxima SL with 31k Miles. It has developed a VERY subtle noise, like a pulsating hum (pulses at the rate of about 1 cycle/second). Heard mostly at 55mph, slightly present between 50-60 and unnoticeable at faster or slower speeds. It is not affected by manual shift mode. It is so subtle that it can really only be heard with the windows closed and the radio off. The car has been regularly maintained. It is still under warranty so I'll likely have to take it to the dealer to get checked but I thought someone here may have an idea. Thanks, Matt |

A tire with some 'scalloping' to it. Some tires are susceptible to this even with regular rotation, and directional tires are much more prone to it, since they never reverse direction to even wear. -Mike Matthew wrote: I thought I would throw this out to the group. I just noticed that there is a squeaking noise coming from the left front wheel when I ride on a street next to parked cars and it allows me to hear the "echo" of the noise. At this point I believe it may be a bad bearing or something. Feel free to correct me if you think I may be wrong... Wheel bearings usually don't make a squeaking noise but a rump rump rump that gets worse as it gets worse. The squeak probably means that you need to replace your brake pads. The wear indicators usually start squeaking. My originals lasted 55K on my Max and 45k on my wife's. I would recommend Wagner Thermoquiet pads. Mine have lasted 100K...yep, I have 159K on my Max. ========================== I just noticed that there is a squeaking noise coming from the left front wheel when I ride on a street next to parked cars and it allows me to hear the "echo" of the noise. Brake pads have about 15K on them with plenty of meat left. "Chuck In Dallas" <goldma... (AT) sbcglobal (DOT) net> wrote in messagenews:8s3qg4lbilqsjj1so2n853358cnuh4agaq (AT) 4ax (DOT) com...
