Default Radio gone bad - 06-25-2005 , 09:17 AM

Have an 03 Max with 69k miles with the standard (not bose) radio/tape/CD
player.

Yesterday the radio started going on the blink. The problem is
intermittent. The volume control does not work sometimes and the display
gets locked up when it shows the volume setting. Has anyone run into this
problem? Are these usually fixed or replaced? Does anyone know the
potential cost?

TIA

My advice is to visit your local BestBuy and get a price on replacing the
radio.

Yeah, that's one thought, but I like the cosmetics and the controls on the
wheel....

From this site, I would guess $150+ for a repair:

I'd look on ebay for an OEM radio (if you want to use the steering wheel
controls) or go aftermarket.

Thanks. in a way, I would like to keep it, but it appears repair would
equal the price of a new one. I will check around on fixing it first
though.
