Default 01 Maxima Problems - 03-17-2006 , 04:25 PM

Hello all,
I tried to pass the Washington state emissions test and failed. After going
to the dealer to get the check engine light to go away and be able to pass
the test, I got soaked for $200 for a gas cap and a hole in a canister.
Well, that's all fixed. Now my check engine light is back with a P0420 code.
Back to the dealer I go. This time they state "Tech verified SES light
found ECU needed reprogram NTB-00-070B Reprogrammed all good at this time."
Back to the emissions place I go. They tell me that I have to come back
again because of the system being in the test mode. The dealer told me they
put it in the ready mode. Now frustration sets in.

1st question
What does NTB-00-070B say. If it just states put system back into retest,
then I am going to be pissed.

What next guys. Anyone have any help here besides nuking Alan Webb Nissan?

Thanks
Alan

The OBD-II system your car supports needs a certain amount of time to
enter ready mode after being reset (code cleared).

Drive around for a few days or a week and go get tested again - your
ECU should be in "normal" operating mode by then (assuming the SES
light is off and stays off for the duration).

The never ending clean air crap game that drives people to the poorhouse
and make auto robing shops rich. Best IMHO advice move to a State without
such nutty un-needed inspections laws.
