Default 106! again :-( - 07-28-2003 , 05:56 AM

OK story so far,

The car was hard to start from cold - other posts from the group said it was
the coolant sender or a fault with the Idle stepper motor - so I took both
off and cleaned (or banged lol)

Now the car started great last night - now its revving to the roof!!! any
ideas? or is it time for a new stepper motor?

Thanks in advance

Martin

experienced... May be it's time to get a 206 I am getting one this
year and I am so much look forward it!!! )

could be either of the 2 broken

1) My old toyota MR2 (MK1) revved like mad at idle when the temperature
sensor in the radiator broke

2) My last 406 would stall or not start when the idle stepper motor started
seizing. While in the garage, they did a cycle test on it to see if cycling
it would un-seize it abit. They sold me to try it and it idled at about 3500
rpm

If you put the ECU into test mode and do a actuator test, you will probably
hear the stepper motor grinding if its knackered

As probably the weakest link in all peugeots is the stepper motor (they ALL
fail) I'd suggest that.

BTW if you need to get a new stepper motor don't get it from peugeot as they
are something like £125 + £40 fitting

I got mine from a local independant for about £35 plus £10 fitting

Got a stepper motor for German, Swiss and French - all seems well at the
minute anyway :-)

Think over the next few months - The car will be getting traded in!

Thanks for all the help

Martin
