Default 306 deisel acceleration problem - 03-03-2007 , 02:40 PM

i have an acceleration problem with an R plate 1.9 306 diesel, mostly when
i accelerate steadily its ok but when i put my foot down it judders unless
i back off on the throttle.
the temperature is around 80 which i think is normal.
i have changed the air filter with no success.
it has been dodgy from cold while accelerating, but its far worse when its
running for a while.
has anyone any pointers please. thanks

thank for the pointers, obviously the idea of water in the diesel is very
worrying, are there any other symptoms to look out for with this.

Hi, i had a similar problem with my 206 diesel. It was kangarooing but
ok when i accelerated through it.
The problem with mine was the egr unit (exhaust gas recirculation, or
something like that). The problem was solved in the short term by
disconnecting the vacuum pipe, i was going to replace the egr when i
had the cash, approx £120, but when i phoned several companies for
prices i was advised not to bother. The car is fine through mot
without it as the emissions are lower as the gas is not recirculated.
Hope this helps.

You should get the warning light up on the panel if you have water in the
fuel as it lies in the bottom of the filter housing, unless of course,
someone has unplugged the sensor. (They are known to give false alarms).
