The engine in this car threw a rod and locked the engine. After replacing the engine, the transmission makes a groaning noise while in forward gear, even when not moving. Sounds okay in Park, Rev, Neutral. The sound is almost like a bare brake shoe grinding on a scored rotor. It's not the brakes or CV joint. It makes noise while sitting still. The car will move...its been down the street about 500 feet and back since the engine was replaced. I'm afraid to run it since it may cause more damage. Any ideas what can get damaged with a sudden stop when an engine locks? Other reasons? |

Transmissions can have so many different failures, we have no way of telling what happened until you open it up. Check your fluid level, and COLOR of the fluid and get back to us. Fluid level is good. Color was dark but still red-ish. I replaced the filter and fluid-just in case. The sound is still there. A friend said it may be a stretched chain that connects to the input shaft behind the TC. I'm dropping it out tomorrow. We'll see. The transmission is a 4T60E.
