I have a '94 Pontiac Sunbird, 2.0 OHC, automatic. I have a combination of issues that I think are all caused by one component. I'm currently suspecting a bad EGR valve. Symptoms are as follows. ...at first start up (cold start)...excessive crank time...once it DOES start, it stalls and "check engine" light flashes. Engine almost seems to backfire (can hear a "pop" sound in the air cleaner box)., found code for TPS sensor circuit high. Checked wiring from tps to pcm....ohms tested and checked for signal and return voltage....all good. Disconnected a/c pressure switch (as it shares the same circuit and the a/c doesn't work anyway), seems to help but isn't the cure. I also vacumm tested my EGR valve...found it won't hold vacuum. Also...on heavy acceleration or trying to use passing gear, engine wants to stall out. Almost as tho the t.v. cable is misadjusted. I suspect a bad EGR valve (all mechanical type) but wondered if there are schematics, flow charts, "pin point" tests, or any other testing I can perform that will help me get a proper diagnosis. Also wondering about the fuel pressure regulator causing this problem. Car runs fine and goes great as long as it's not floored. Any help would be great....thanks. Brennan's Dad |

I'd be testing the fuel pressure first here."brennansdad" <chdab... (AT) yahoo (DOT) .com> wrote in message news:d71c0086-e535-4bf3-a5ff-48208a94163b (AT) t3g2000yqa (DOT) googlegroups.com...
