My experience with steering wheels (limited) is that they fit in only one
position as there is a wide space between splines at one point.

Are you due for a front-end alignment or a tire rotation? Are your tires
inflated evenly? Were you driving in a crosswind when you noticed the wheel was
out of line? All of these will factor into your steering wheel angle.

Look at the simple things before ripping the steering column apart.

If your steering wheel has never been removed it should be centered. If
it's not have the alignment checked out.

Don't. It's supposed to be fixed correctly, by a non-moron. If you rack is
off center, then your bump steer geometry will be (is already) messed up.

That's not how you center a steering wheel.
You have an alignment performed by somebody
that is competent.

Whooops!
Still not how you center the steering wheel. You simply made the
rookie mistake of not investigating and marking the steering wheel...
(grin).

A dealership must be so easy!
It's probably easier in some ways, and harder in other ways.
