Default Update on losing Antifreeze somewhere - 02-01-2007 , 08:23 AM

Turns out that it was the intake manifold gasket that started leaking.
They told my wife it was going to cost her 1200. Canadian Dollars. I called
the service manager and said that seemed a little "rich" for replacing a
gasket. I told him that I had read up on this antifreeze GM are using and
how it eats gaskets. He said that was because the vehicle probably didn't
get a coolant flush when it should have. I told him I thought changing
coolant is right up there with changing the air in your tires. In my day, we
never changed coolants and I can replace a manifold gasket in a 350 chevy
engine in probably 2 hrs. I basically showed him how I have aged and how I
don't understand the "new" vehicle...ha ha..
I told him I thought the quotation was pretty steep so he dropped 150
dollars off the quotation and gave my wife a free courtesy car while it was
being fixed. I guess it pays to bitch a little. Thought you might have
wanted an update. Jim
