I took it to a garage and they shook their heads, sucked their teeth and said "sorry guv, the flaps which control the heat flowing into the cockpit from the engine have stuck, and the lines which control them are broken. To fix all that you'd need to take the engine out, so we've just closed them for now." |

Were they right? Do they really need to take the engine out (quote about a thousand pounds) just to fix the heater flaps?? Does anyone know another way to fix this? |

However, the diagnosis sounds correct -- it's not uncommon. Were they right? Do they really need to take the engine out (quote about a thousand pounds) just to fix the heater flaps??
