I've let the pros do brakejobs on my Porsche, with no squeaking, but I used to put a little antiseize grease on the "backs" of the pads when I did my own work. Stopped most if not all squeaks. |

I'm using OEM pads, which have a built in "membrane" that does this - but I really want to know if the "snap like things" are a thing that is only used from the factory or if I should be trying to find some new ones. Are you referring to the shims? They are round with a star like pattern. If so they should be replaced (2 per pad) they reduce pad movement/vibration. You should also be using Pagid pads any other brands are primarily used for racing (great stopping power, but squeak to the point that any dogs in a 10 mile radius will hate you). I would use both the shims and the Pagid pads unless you like your pride and joy to sound like a dump truck.
