Hi group, just inspected a 1981 924, It was in good condition considering it's age. the interior was worn but complete, the exhaust had a small hole so it sounded a bit like a tractor. the engine idled a bit rough and could hear the tappets, AC worked, elec windows worked, started first time, some panel damage around the lower edges but no rust, The owner says it has done 65,000 klms probably 265,000 any opinions would be great thanks Paul If he's not giving it to you, run away. |

Paul, I see you're an Aussie; if the car if up for a bargain, it is a fairly nice reliable car to drive, but if you plan to restore the car, it might turn out to be an bottomless money pit. I will not go on what the guys from the UK and US have say, cause these cars really have NO value over there. I'm from South Africa and even run-down cars still goes for a pretty penny. But remember parts are EXPENSIVE. Go onto your local AutoTrader site and see what they trade for and have a chat on some of the Australian Porsche forums first before making a decision. I would want to see maintenance records for the car, and strongly recommend a pre purchase inspection to see exactly what you are dealing with in terms of necessary repairs. In my experience it is money well invested. Let us know what you find about it the more information you provide the more helpfull people can be. Good hunting don |
