I was whipping down the Interstate last night in my '95 9000CS here in town and
ran over a long piece of metal or something that was all the way across the
lane. With a semi on each side and one behind me, there was no way to avoid it.
I was very worried that I'd blown a tire (yes, they're Michelins) because it
really jarred the car.
Got even more concerned when I saw at least six Hondas and Toyotas parked along
the road with blown tires and 2 "Highway Angels"* working as fast as they could
to get the tires changed.
Saab continued to drive fine. I pulled off and checked the tires at a service
station. Everything is AOK.
*Highway Angels is the nickname for Tenn. Dept. of Transportation Help trucks
that look like yellow ambulances. They carry gas and fuel of all types,
emergency replacement belts, tire inflators, jacks and anything else that can
be used to get any type of car or truck off the interstate safely. All
provided free of charge.
