Default automatic climate control, times-out (turns itself off) - 02-05-2005 , 05:59 PM

2001, 9-5 automatic climate control, times-out (turns itself off), ten
minutes after car is turned off. Climate control has to be switched on
after car restart. What might be the problem and is there an inexpensive
solution?

The problem is most likely that you told the climate control to do one
thing but expect it to do something else. You, or someone else, has
programmed the climate control to start in the OFF state. The inexpensive
solution is to reprogram the climate control. How this is done can be
found by reading the instruction manual that was included with the
vehicle. The instruction manual contains a lot of information and should
be read.

The climate control has a default setup it used when it starts. However,
if the car has been off less than 10 minutes the climate control keeps
whetever settings were active when the car was shut off. This makes it
possible to make a short pause without having to change the settings.

The default setup can be changed by setting the climate control to the
wanted state and then pushing [OFF] and [rear defroster] at the same
time. The display should flash to confirm. Turn off ignition and wait
10 minutes for the change to be stored.

The programmed setting can be set back to factory settings by pushing
[AUTO] and [fan speed down] at the same time. The display should flash
to confirm. Turn off ignition and wait 10 minutes for the change to be
stored.
