Default Central locking '91 900 - 05-03-2007 , 01:45 PM

I just got the car (German basic model, 220kkm great condition). The
central locking operates intermittently. I searched past posts, but
didn't see any relating to this particular vintage. Can anyone point
me to the controller? Any other advice?

PS: I'm just headed out to mount the rear spoiler from the '92 I just
junked. Don't worry, I had mounted it on that one too, and there
wasn't a speck of rust when I pulled it off!

Well, I'll help myself! I was given two keys by the previous owner and
told to use "this one" and the other didn't work very well. It is
true! When I use the correct key, the central locking works fine, and
I don't need to jiggle the shifter to get started. Should I order a
second key from a dealer? Or could the good key be copied by a
locksmith?

YES!! AS someone else already mentioned. If the one operating key
fails you will not be able to get a second made to work with your car,
so a big repair to replace the computer module and the 2 keys.

So go get a second key made (suck it up and pay SAAB) and rotate the key
usage so you will know if one goes tits up.

Can you clarify? If the key opens the lock, why doesn't it trigger the
central locking?
Also, I still think I have an electrical issue, since the good key has
been working, but didn't the first few uses on this cold, rainy German
morning. It started working again after the car was warmed up. Can
anyone tell me where the brain is? There isn't any reference to
locking on the fuse panel. What's it linked with?

I could possibly salvage all the locks from The '92 I just junked
(central locking worked flawlessly), but that seems like a lot of
work.

Thanks to all for all the invaluable advice I've received on this
group!
