Default Headlight Bulb Replacement Question (Regarding Clip) - 11-04-2006 , 10:20 PM

Hey guys,

I was just fiddling around with the passenger side headlight on my '97
Saab 900 trying to remove just the bulb with the assembly still in
place.

I can't seem to release the retaining clip holding the bulb in place.
Can someone please give me an idea of how to remove that clip? I would
prefer just to do the quick change with the assembly in place if
someone could tell me how to release that darn clip! Even better, if
someone has an assembly on a bench somewhere and could snap a pic and
email (koneskyATgmail.com), that could sure help, or just let me know
where to push to get it to release!

I can see the wire clip hinges on the bottom so im assuming there is
some retaining mechanism at the top. Thanks

-Konesky

Pretty much all headlight bulb clips are the same, so it's a ten
second Google job...

The picture you're after is second from the bottom.

Cheers,

Colin.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the replies, after trying to no avail I decided the grill
had to come out as well as the headlight assembly. As it turns out, the
1997 Saab 900 has a slightly different style of clip. While the wire
still has the two tabs which suggest squeezing together it is in fact a
slightly different mechanism. I hope this information will help someone
else out...

To release the clip, the wire must be pushed in gently (towards the
bulb/front of the car) then slid sideways towards your left (when
standing in front of the car)... That is, on the passenger side, you
must push the clip outwards towards the fender.

Again push in towards the bulb gently then slide sideways towards the
fender (passenger side).

Hope this helps someone else!
