hello, i'm guessing that its NOT possible to tow a Saab 9-3 w/ automatic transmission behind my RV, at least not without a tow dolly. I had a Nissan which i could tow with a simple tow bar, with all 4 wheels on the ground. But with the Saab (w/ auto transmission), i'm expecting that you have to adjust (?) the driveshaft before you could tow it with the wheels on the ground, without causing damage. So if anybody can confirm this, or surprise me, please let me know. I don't want to have to sell my Saab, but a tow dolly is completely impractical, and i have some serious RV traveling to do soon. Thanks! |

I don't know about the Saab 9-3 but on my Saab 9000, the owner's manual does lay out the procedures for such maneuver : transmission put to N (obvious enough), ATF must be deliberately overfilled by a certain quantity (I can't recall), towing speed not to exceed a certain figure (again I can't recall the exact figure from memory), and at the end of the towing, the excess ATF must be drained. |
