weirdest Fuel relay problem 87 900 turbo convertible -

This is weird. On occasion the FUEL PUMP relay doesn't engage. By
looking at it while it is working, the relay engages once you start to
turn over the starter. The top one(both are new) fuel ignition relay
comes on when you turn the ignition to the on position WITHOUT
cranking. No issues with the fuel ignition relay. What is the weird
part is the fuel pump relay doesnt engage only when the temperature
falls below 69 degrees fahrenheit. So my question is what engages the
fuel pump relay to come on(contact I should say). Now when it doesn't
contact I slip in a piece of metal were the contacts (should)come
together inside the relay. That will start it and run great. And also
my starting problems are gone for the day. Unless I leave it set and
let the car get to 69 or below again. And it is not the relay because
if switching them when it doesn't work doesn't matter. So it is what
ever SENDS the signal to the fuel pump relay that is bad. So to make a
long story short what sends the signal to the fuel pump relay PLEASE.
I am guessing the LH ECU. I live in southern California so the temp
only gets low sometimes in the winter and the mornings. I have had the
problem for 2 years. I mounted the relays in the glove box for easy
access when the problem comes, OR should I say tempeture drops. Like I
said NEVER a problem over 69 degress I find the very weird. |
