Default Erratic odometer, speedometer OK - 08-25-2008 , 07:03 PM

My 93 SW1 odometer is erratic, it seldom works but the speedometer works
fine. Sometimes the odometer works but usually it doesn't move. Any
ideas for a quick cheap fix? Don't bother mentioning the dealer, their
bills are higher than the worth of the car ;(

early model s-series had a weak odo gear which is very common for it to
break. intermittently working is a sign that it is on the way out. it is a
tiny little plastic gear inside the gauge cluster that can be replaced.
