Howdy folks,

After a year of reading posts and living with the puff of smoke every time I
accellerated, I finally did the top engine cleaning with MMO...and it seems
to have done the trick.

I pulled the plugs, put in 2 tablespoons of MMO in each cylinder and let it
sit over night. In the morning, I cranked it (without the plugs) for a few
seconds. Replaced the plugs, changed the oil, and I've been smoke free ever
since.

My engine is running cooler than before.

I'm also using 10w-40 now, rather than 10w-30, which is what I've run for
the last 150,000 miles. So I'm not sure how much the smoking cessation is
due to the MMO treatment, and how much is due to the heavier oil.

Here's my question: when I pulled the plugs, the two outside plugs were
dry. The two inside plugs had liquid oil (not just a film) on the threads.
I'm sure this is why I was burning oil, but where is the oil coming from?
The cylinders? The head? And ideas?

Oil on plug threads is probably due to the valve cover gaskets needing
replacing.

I'd suggest buying the gaskets from your dealer. It's an easy job - search
the newsgroup to find out how.
