Go with an aftermarket unit from an electronics store. Get one that will play
mp3's directly off a cd and then you can put 10 album's worth of audio on one
disk... same as having a CD changer in the trunk for ALOT cheaper. I would drop
the option of a cassette deck completely. He could then get a "high power"
unit, or at later dates get a subwoofer, etc. Usually alot more functionality
and future upgradeability with aftermarket. You may have to get a "kit" to get
the unit to mount properly but thats no big deal or expensive. Go to an car
audio installation place (or even the electronics store) and they should be able
to hook you up. You can do the install yourself.

My 16-year old son recently purchased a 1996 Saturn SL1 and it came with a
simple AM/FM Radio. He would like to replace it with something that will
play CDs (single or multiplay). I've suggested he visit a local junkyard,
but I'd be interested in hearing suggestions. (Ebay?, new unit that would
fit into dash?
If he does go with the salvage method, what year vehicles can he try to find
a CD player from? Also, are there any other vehicles whose factory radio
will fit (connectors, mounting hardware, and dash cut out) his '96 Saturn?
Thanks in advance for your input.
