Time for a new oil guy!! Sounds like an idiot, or an "old school" guy. Could be
that your oil guy only carries 10-30 and thats why he recommends 10-30? Lots of
smaller shops do this as they can't afford or have the room to carry more oil
weights in stock. Definatly do the 5-30! 10-30 (in real basic terms) is thicker
oil... thicker oil will flow slower and might not lube as good as it should in
certain situations (expecially during startup). The colder it gets, the more it
makes a difference. The engine has been manufactured/designed with 5-30 in mind.
If you run 10-30, you might not notice any problems now, but maybe 5 years from
now when your engine seals are leaking bad or you are blowing smoke and need some
major engine work, you will wonder why other peoples car's arnt doing so. Don't
risk your expensive engine because of one guys opinion... its not his car or his
money. Its understandable not to go to a synthetic oil when its twice or more the
price but use common sense here.

Got some small peeves, like the de-fogger, takes a long long time for the
rear window. And especially I have a question about arming alarm.

All the cars I ever had armed and closed the door on delay. This one just
arms the alarm. Doors remain open. Then, of course, I forget, and open the
door. Oboy. Honk honk.

I would think the locks would go down by pushing the lock botton on the key
chain first and after the second press the horn would beep.

It does do that. I meant, if you get out of the car and simply walk away.
It is programmed to arm the alarm, but it does not lock the doors at the
same time. All my other cars do. And no, without looking, I'm not sure of
the brands of the other ones. The idea is that if you forgets to lock the
car, after 5 minutes or say, 30 seconds on my Van, it will lock itself and
arm. The Saturn just arms. You forget about it and yay.. Honk Honk on your
return. (Unless you are aware of it and hit the Lock button on the remote.)

I'd like it to act like the others and Lock & Arm.

Is there a way around this? I sure cannot find it.

Check the manual. There are two ways to program the door locks on my 2001
L200.

Manual says nothing about auto locking, except when you start the car.

Another item would be the oil recommended is 5w-30. But 10w-30 is also
mentioned. 5w30 is "best" for your car, it says. I used 10w-30 and hope
it's cool.

I would go with 5w30

Reason please. The "Oil guy" says it's an overkill and we're not in alaska
or the Kalahari desert. I don't understand his reluctance on 5w30. The book
says 1-w40 is OK as well, but the 5w30 is best.

This seems a nice quiet group. Gonna hang around a bit and see if I can
get this car figured out.

Sounds like you have good luck so far. Be aware that Saturn is recalling
these cars for an ignition problem sometime in July.

Nope.. it is a reference to Life. When things are out of Harmony, I
harmonize them. People, events, feelings, so on. Just a joke, really.

....my dealer switched to 10-30 quite a while ago on my 97 SL-2.
