Default Complaint - 03-05-2007 , 07:01 AM

I would really appreciate if you redirect this e-mail to the customer
relationship department in Japan, as I have not been listened by
Subaru Spain.

Dear Subaru,
Following you can find a description of my reasons to write this
complaint letter, as what I think is a remarkable and repeated fraud,
done by official Subaru dealers in Spain.
I am an owner of a Subaru Forrester, since November 2001. With only
31.000 Km, and 3 month since the car has been bought, the light "Check
Engine" of the car diagnostics showed. Therefore I took the car to the
official repair service, as stated in the car Manual. The failure were
"reset", but not solved.
Since then, the failure has repeated more and more often, until the
usual was to have such warning permanently active. This happened with
only 43.000 Km, and 20 month since the car has been bought.
Every time I took the car to the repair service, they stated that the
problem was caused by a "self-explosion" in the vacuum of the cylinder
#4. Those checks were not only done in the periodic warranty check,
but also out of them so they can connect the car to the service
computer and reset the error. Finally, due to the time lost by this
visits, I got myself used to have this error permanently on.
With this situation, I had no choice but to do kilometers and
kilometers with the warning on. The car I bought the enjoy was
gradually turning into a kind of torture. With 79.000km and less than
three years I even began tried taking the car to other car services,
in the hope that someone would have more knowledge about the problem,
and remove permanently the warning. Unfortunately, all seem to have
the same level of ignorance, and they didn't were able to, or didn't
want to, solve the problem.
Until the last check. With the warranty just finished, they discover
that the reason for the warning is a degradation of the catalytic
converter. I agreed to pay the repair, and after 60 days, the car
works perfectly, with more power, and with an engine sound that I have
almost forgotten.
Then it goes my complaint. Why this failure wasn't found when the car
still was under warranty? I clearly see now how all the previous
reasons for the problem ware nothing but excuses, and that they were
only expecting for the warrant period to end, so I have to pay for the
repair to be done.
My request is that Subaru Spain should pay the repair of a problem
that clearly happened when the car was still under warranty, and that
has made the car to have less power, and probably to contaminate more.
It is a pity that such a good car should suffer a Technical Service so
incompetent.
Best regards,
Alberto Gutierrez

I live in Canada and got a problem with my catalytic converter at 62,000KM,
just 2,000KM after the end of the warranty. I got the part replaced at no
charge, the dealer told me that this part was on warranty up to 120,000KM.

Maybe you should verify what's the warranty on that part with another
dealer...

I live in California. My emissions warranty is for 150,000 MILES.
This includes the catalytic converter.
