Thanks man, I really appreciate your taking the time to tell me all this
stuff.
I am now 99% convinced this is the car for me. I have to learn how to drive
stick first though, so that's where that other 1% comes into play. But once
I do, I know I am not going to have another boring day in my car again.

No problem! I am really happy with my STi. Learning to drive a stick
in an STi is a piece of cake. The thing has so much power and torque
that you would have to go out of your way to try and kill it!
There is nothing boring about the STi.
But, beware, you can get in a lot of trouble in the STi. It has way
more than enought power to get out of control if you are not paying
attention.

nah. too small. we'll need to seat 7 with room for junk in the back.
i wish for something that looks as good as and as functional as the
honda odyssey with as much or more power (240hp in the odyssey) and
AWD.

Hey chaps,

One of my friends recently dragged me into rally racing, where I saw the
Subaru Impreza WRX STi perform magnificently last season. Being out in
the
market for a new car, I am really interested in acquiring one of these

have heard many people complain about braking and handling overall. I am
sure this is more personal than anything and just wanted some input. To
those outhere who already have one of these wonderful machines. I ENVY
YOU!!

Thanks.

Problem with the braking and handling? You have to be kidding! I
can't imagine why anyone would complain about the braking and
handling. Unless you can afford an all out exotic, there are very few
cars out there that can run with the STi

I'll second that. From 160 KPH (about 100 MPH) if you hold the brakes until
the ABS starts to kick in, it will literally make your head spin. As for
handling, the thing is tricky because it handles differently under power
than under braking. Once you get used to it, I can't think of too many
reasonably-priced cars that can outperform it. It accelerates like a
rocket, stops like it is anchored, and turns like it is on rails. Even
people who don't like the look of them, drool over them after they have
driven them. I test drove it, and bought it the same day.
