I have a '07 Outback. For a car that is supposed to go everywhere through everything, I've never had a car collect so much ice and snow in the wheel wells. Even my old Subie wasn't this bad. Any solutions or preventions? There's just enough room in there for the tire to spin -- sometimes. Otherwise it makes some very interesting noises when driving. |

Short of peeing into the wheel wells periodically I suggest to think about aftermarket winter wheels. I think the latter would be a more elegant (if more expensive) solution than the former. I also think your oem wheels are 17" and aftermaket 16" or 15"s would probably clear the brake calipers. The wheel selection on tirerack should help.If you go with the smaller wheels I think you can increase the clearance between the tire and the wheel well covers if you are creative with the tire sizing. I think the tire load ratings would probably drop along with the sidewall height if you stay within the same wheels diameter. |

Sheldon I have heard of folks cleaning the wheel wells with a pressure spray |
