Default are models with 2.5 turbo engine affected by head gasket problem? - 02-03-2007 , 09:51 AM

Hi,

there is a lot of talk about head gasket leaks, but no one mentioned
turbo engines yet. Is there any evidence that models with 2.5 turbo
(Legacy GT, Impreza, STI, Baja, etc.) engine are affected by this
problem too?

They pop headgaskets like horses pop farts......
Keep $1600 ready and some vacation time from work for the car being "Down"
Like others have said before, If a Subaru shop does the work, they will use
the same
crappy quality gasket.Expect the new ones to let go in less than 80,000
miles too.
You didn't say how miles you have on yours, there is a long list of things
that SHOULD
be done while you are in there. Read on here....TONS of info.

well.. @ 153,000kms no knocks, ticks, smoke etc 1992 Legacy turbo. If you
keep the rad fluid clean every 25,000 kms you shouldn't have the problem..
most of the time people use a 50/50 mix and the stuff goes acidic / gells up
and eats the gaskets out after time. I have always run 80/20 to the dismay
of garages and change it every 25,000k and have yet to blow a head gasket in
5 different engines.. Did this in a taurus 3.8 which was supoose to be the
worst and have owned it since 110k.. no head problems yet 260k on it
