Look for "How to Keep Your Subaru Alive", it's been out of print for a
while, but e-bay, amazon and powells can find 'em.
As good as they come, and I won them all.

Hi Folks.

Any recommendations on a good repair manual? Although I recall both
being
good books about 20 years ago, the last Chilton and Haynes manuals I
looked at were both garbage. A look on the web, so far, has brought up
the
usual Chilton/Haynes books, but now they're Subaru "1970-1988" and
"Subaru
Automotive Repair Manual 1600 & 1800: 1980 thru 1994". I've never liked
the multi-year books, especially when they cover such a wide range of
years. "How to Keep Your Subaru Alive" doesn't seem to be available
anymore.

You can find new copies of HTKYSA at
http://www.computeroutpost.com.au/bo...asp?code=C-BKS. Ignore the
price since that's in Australian dollars. I bought one from them and
shipping wasn't too bad and reasonably quick. Another book which is
excellent is the manual by Robert Bentley (ISBN #0-8376-0270-X); also out of
print but it's an excellent re-write of the factory shop manual. Powell's
and Amazon can find them also and www.books4cars.com also may have one in
stock. Also look on http://pub110.ezboard.com/bultimatesubarumessageboards
since occasionally someone will list it there also. Goes for around $25
plus shipping (less if you get lucky). Good luck. ---Ed---
