First I thought it was a cold weather thing. But now it's warm and it's still doing it. "It" is a long hesitation going from Park or Reverse into Drive. If I hit the gas it will shift, but with a noticeable jerk (obviously, since I hit the gas). This can't be good for the drive train. Warm engine idle as shown on the tach is 600 RPM or less, but it happens even with a cold idle of 1500 or so. Nervous question: tranny going south or a simple fix? '99 Outback wagon with 93K. Bob Just another nice basic flake. |

What if you tried replacing the oil filter in the transmission? (not the strainer), your car has one, right? Did you replace the ATF when recommended? Good luck! Me, too. Hesitation from Drive #1 to #2 in upstate NY in cold weather. Happened persistently on two days a week apart. Problem went away overnight each time. No recurrence now for a month. |
