Whats up Hachi. Yeah, I'm here in Florida working the night shift doing my
best to help keep these old ass F-16s in the air. I used to think mans
achievement was designing and building a machine that can do the things
these planes can, but now I see that the achievement is keeping a squadron
of planes with 20 year old tail numbers in the air at all.
Anyway, as far as the SC kit goes, the driveline isn't touched at all.
The kit only comes with all the bits needed to install the blower itself,
plus a few extras like a new thermostat and a chip for the engine ECU.
Other than that, you're talking about 40 or so extra HP on a stock
drivetrain. I only intstalled a few of those, and I'll tell you the one
thing that I really didn't like about the test drive after I was done;
torque steer. Being front wheel drive with an open diff and with fairly
narrow tires (and one axle a foot londer than the other), the thing just
doesn't have what it needs to put that power down to the pavement. Drop
the hammer in anything less than third, and the steering wheel gets a mind
of its own. Throttle up in a turn, and the thing understeers severely,
pushes right out of the corner.
Now, on the highway that exra power comes in very useful. Drop down into
fourth to make a pass and you'll zip on by anything you need to.
But anyway, your observation is correct. In addition to the gearing,
there are other changes that need to be made to a car like the tC. You
can't just toss 25% more power into a car and leave everthing else
untouched. You just can't do anything with it.
And I'm done. So what, you bought a tC? What about the Supra bone yard? |
