Make sure to use a large clean table with barriers set up so small parts can't escape. There are LOTS of small parts. Set up a pan to soak parts in carb cleaner. I have since done 2 carb rebuilds for 22RE's on my own. Tricky, complicated, but not impossible. Get a good manual to follow. You say that you have done 2 carb rebuilds on 22RE's??? I thought that 22RE's are fuel injected. Please correct me if I'm wrong. jm Technically there is no such engine as a 22RE. There is a 22R made from '79 to '84, and the 22REC made from '85 to '95. Generally the 22R was carbureted only, with rare exceptions. The 22REC can be either Carbureted or Fuel-injected. Toyota refers to even the later 22REC engine as a 22R if it is carbureted or a 22RE if it was Fuel-injected. This has lead to some confusion about engine types. I was referring to 22REC engines that are carbureted. Sorry for the confusion. 22R = Carbureted Engine 22RE = Electronic Fuel Injection 22REC = Electronic Fuel Injection and Turbocharged Hope this helps clear up the confusion.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - |
