Last summer I nearly lost my lawn due to 4 days of 105 degree weather. My
solar collectors on my roof nearly warped beyond functioning anymore. Nobody
was home to use the excess hot water. What a scorcher!
This coming summer is predicted to be much worse.
Global warming means unusual extremes and that's what I'm seeing here where
I live.

I'm just a few thousand short for installing a 8 kilowatt off-grid system.
It appears I will have enough sunshine now to make it a logical investment.
The bad news is I'll have to resort to a solar cover for my pool to keep
evaporation down. In the past I used to lose about 1/2 inch a week. Last
year I was losing 1 1/2 inch a week. My water usage went through the roof!

Usually by now I'm setting out a few plantings in my raised bed garden.
Right now I don't know what the heck to plant. I hear the birds chirping in
the morning which tells me it's spring but the morning temperatures are
hovering above freezing. Two days ago I watched the temperature dip to 27
degrees as the sun rose. Yester noon the sun was out and it was snowing!
Mother Nature is PO.

Read this one carefully. It's good to see the US standing
shoulder-to-shoulder with the PRC, Russia and Saudi Arabia. What mighty
beacons of liberty those friends of us are!

We've got an oddball weather pattern here, too, which is probably also
affecting Schaumburg.

Is it GW? Maybe; GW's real but it's tough to predict exactly what's going
to result. I think we're going to be surprised. Often. And few of the
surprises, if any, will be pleasant ones.

I'd bet you have a leak.

I had the same thing until I had the pool resurfaced and they found
the leak while doing the work...

Nope. It was pressure tested. No leaks.

OK, so you had a leak(s) coming from the pool itself. My liner isn't
leaking. Neither is the steps going into the pool. When the cool weather
comes but the pool isn't covered yet the water loss thru evaporation reverts
back to how it used to be.

Splash out isn't considered because one, it hardly happens, and two, I
compensate for it almost immediately afterwards.
Maybe my robot is drinking the water ?

Perhaps ;-) (actually it could be if water flows outside the pool
from the robot)

The leaks I had were around the fittings going into the pool (pressure
from filter) and around the water level skimmer.

Method to find?

The red chemical used to measure pool pH dropped around fittings when
the pool has been 'still' for long enough that there are no currents.

Actually, I had that done before the resurfacing. Turns out that was
wasted money, cause the pool resurfaced fixed everyone of the leaks as
part of their service.
