Default 2003 - 2004 corollas - 09-18-2006 , 04:52 PM

hi,

plan to buy a used corolla. have narrowed the search down to 2 different
models in two diff. model years.

further narrowing calls for deciding on a 2003 LE or S or a 2004 LE or S.

so there are really 4 models to consider.

are there any overall significant differences, pro or con between these 4?

thanks,

mike

If the 03 or 04 is the "first year" of a new model I would avoid it. I
would also avoid paying any significant extra for the "upgrades" model.
Just me.

'03 was the 4th year of its generation, so the '04 cars are the first model
of the present generation. There were some differences, but at this point I
can no longer remember what they were! A look-see at a "new cars" issue of
Consumer Reports from back then (library periodicals section, unless old
issues are available online?) would probably list the upgrades/differences.
The dash of an "S" is going to be different than that of an LE, but you
probably know that...

I have an '04, which was the first year of its generation model. I've had
four Corollas since '84, & they're so reliable that I don't hestitate to buy
a new model year.

Weird, the reviews I looked at said '03 was the first of the new
Corolla model year, so I think you must be mistaken....

While it was a limited survey, to be sure, and it is NOT a corolla,
when I was considering a Camry a few years ago, I looked at the TSBs on
the 03 Camry vs. the 02, with the 02 being the first of the model year.
The 02's had a fairly significant number of issues. Sure, most were
small, but at least they ironed them out before the 03s rolled off the
line..

nah, can't say that I do. However, when I was a very young kid, a
widowed neighbor had purchased one of the early Toyota, one of the
first or second wave or so to hit the US, don't remember what model,
but does Corona make sense....

Anyway, she had it for a year or two with no real problems, but the
neighborhood gas station owner, who was the mechanic for all the cars
in the neighborhood made it his goal to make her get rid of that &#*($
foreign car.

He finally talked her into it, and she ended up buying one of the AMC
cars. Again, I don't remember the model, but that thing HONESTLY was
broken down more than it was running. LOL>

the big brother of the Chevette, and just as rotten. You seldom see one on
the road (but probably plenty in wrecking yards.
