Default OT: Paki Joke - 11-30-2005 , 10:19 AM

Two families moved from Pakistan to the USA. When they arrived the two
fathers made a bet - in a year's time whichever family had become more
American would win.

A year later they met again. The first man said, "My son is playing
baseball, I had McDonalds for breakfast and I'm on my way to pick
up a case of Bud.

How about you?"

The second man replied, "Fuck you, towel head."

Good one.
At least these fellows tried to assimilate into the culture. Most
Moslems that arrive to different societies refuse to become like that
country. They want their own little country with their own rules.

I don't know that it's fair to say that Muslims 'refuse' to assimilate -
remember, their religion has very strict rules about how one dresses, etc.

Having said that, Eastern Indians and Pakistanis seem to be the most
industrious of immigrants - willing to work very hard to maintain their
lives. Too bad more native-born Americans don't have that ethic!

Here in Ontario (Canada), there was a request by some Muslim groups to
legalize "Shariah" (sp?), which is a set of Muslim marriage/relationship
laws that supposedly give the male all the power. I don't know which
countries these particular Muslim groups came from, but thankfully our
otherwise inept premier (after some deliberation!) refused to allow it.

Unless, of course, free money or other free stuff is involved
then they're true blue Americans (or Canadians)

But is that really a problem for non-Muslims? Or were they trying to make
*everyone* abide by that law?

Certainly doesn't surprise me much!...just look at what the lily
livered RCMP hierarchy did re turbans...and the DND also...thank
God the Legion has some backbone and -refused- to allow them to
wear turbans in the bar...kudos to them!...

It was claimed by human rights groups that it was degrading toward women,
but that's how it works in the Muslim faith.

If they want to be treated like everyone else, then they should abide by
North American laws, be it for marriage or what not. That means men and
women are equal (theoretically and legally speaking of course). They
should not be entitled to specific laws just for their faith. If they
want their own laws, they should go back to their homeland.

I don't know what I feel about that Natalie...on the one hand,
perhaps we shouldn't demand that people moving here be held to
our standards but then, OTOH, what sort of an example might our
children take from seeing what to us is very insulting behavior
toward women?, perhaps even cruelty toward them? (to name only
one aspect of their difference). Where do we 'put our foot down'?

I'm sure that some nationality would have 'some' trait that we
couldn't 'live with'...what do we do then? What do we say when
they say "Well, hell, you allow those XXX people to do BBB, why
can't we do ZZZ?...see my point?

Remember the fufarah that arose in Florida (I think) about the
Muslim woman who wanted a driver's license and yet wouldn't allow
the Highways Dept to photograph her face?... WooHoo...the fur
flew there...
