You do realize that "The N Word" or "N-Bomb" is only an insult if
the person it is aimed at ALLOWS it to be used as one, don't you?
Stare them down unflinchingly, call them on their choice of words

I think it's more of a reflection on the lack of class on the part
of the person trying to use a word to hurt. Pity them, for they know
not just how stupid it makes them look.

The thing I just can't get is: If you're black and in a non-mixed
group gathering it's perfectly acceptable to toss the N-word around in
casual conversation like a live grenade with the pin still in - but
let a non-black person walk up and try to use it... W.W. III

MLK was right - you can't really get a hater to stop hating, you
have to work on the next generation of children /before/ they get
taught "unconditional hatred". And this is on BOTH sides.

Decades ago, the N-word was often used as a noun, as well as epithet. It
used to be a normal part of conversation at one time. Now it is not.

It is no longer used because its meaning has subtly shifted to that of
_always_ being an epithet. The non-epithetical meaning has gone by the
wayside.

Use of a particular word is not hate in and of itself. HOW that word is
used is what makes it "hate". To state that particular words intrinsically
embody hatred is to debase the currency of truly hate-charged speech.

You actually lessen the impact of true "hate" speech by equating it with
things that were done quite innocently.
