Just what we need, being accountable & explaining ourselves to a
communist government. I guess having a few fans of Mao Zedong in this
administration helped, or dependance on US exports, I dunno which.

So, I guess you were annoyed when Nixon got the ball rolling with the
Chinese dictatorship.

I dunno I'd have to research it & plus I was like only 8 yrs old at the
time if you are referring to the 1972 visit to China that is. To say I'm
annoyed is a bit of an assumption on your part I think. And honestly I'm
more concerned about the *present* at the moment but I will give a look
& see what the issues were than & maybe give you an answer.

I'm really into consistency, so I thought I'd ask.
You should really be into consistancy where it concerns you, yourself, as
much as you demand it from others.

How so, professor?
You tell me. What did Nixon have to do with what's going on now?

And tell me, "perfesser", who had the MOST to do with China becoming the
World's manufacturer?

He agreed to normalize relations with a communist dictatorship, while at the
same time claiming we were fighting communism in Vietnam. Sort of a
two-faced policy, don't you think?

Nixon could've insisted on maintaining the type of policy we've had with
Cuba: No talk, no trade, no travel, no nothing. Nixon chose not to do that.
The results are obvious.

The answer is that Nixon thought we needed ties with China as a balance to
Soviet misbehavior. But in pursuing this aim, he wrecked out economy
forever.
