Pizza was brought to it's current form in Naples.
My family is from Naples. Pizza was brought to the US by an Italian
named Lombardi.

When they were talking about him, the showed an Italian Immigrant
from the 20's or so, holding his little baby and waving an American
Flag in front of the baby, and then holding the flag in front of the
camera and waving it. Those were the immigrants of the past, happy to
come to America and become American.

Why does our current crop of 'immigrants' wave Mexican flags?

What a difference a century makes...
One of those political tests I took asked the question "Is it possible
for a first-generation immigrant to ever fully assimilate?" I answered
"YES" because I thought of those immigrants from the early 1900s and
even my parents from the Fifties. It's amazing how today's immigrants
refuse to assimilate and don't even bother learning the language. I'm
sick of "Pressing 1 for English" wherever I call or when I use a credit
card.

My Grandfather on my Dad's side came over on da boat from Germany,
just before WWI.

When he landed and got processed, he immediately learned how to spek
English.

When we were kids, my cousins and I, I think I was about 4 years old
and heard Granda saying something I couldn't understand. My cousin
grabbed me and said, "Let's go!"

The only time he EVER spoke German was if he was REALLY mad! They
NEVER taught the kids German, because they were Americans. They had a
flagpole and flew the flag on holidays, and it wasn't a German flag,
either!

Yeah, I think 1st generation can assimilate quite well...

So did my great-grandparents from Italy..
I think the difference between today and yesterday is National Pride.
Today's Liberals have redefined the word "patriotism" as something
dirty and keep invoking Germany as an example of patriotism. If
Americans truly had any pride in their country we would insist on
immigrants conforming to our culture rather than we change our laws to
accomodate them.

Most of my ancestors were here before the Civil War, but all of them, even
the French Canadian ones, learned how to speeka da English. . . . 27
different languages for drivers tests? What pot-smoking maggot infested
FM-type thought that one up?
