I was issued a whole new set of uniforms, after around three weeks, while

So, Mike, did you go ashore on D-Day? That means you are at least 80
years old.

No, I was in the Navy, arrived aboard on the third day, and yes I'm 83.
My worst memory was seeing all of the bodies still floating in the water.

Whenever I see pictures of bodies floating on the beaches I realize
war is just a mindless contest of attrition and each of those bodies
used to house a soul.

His story is consistant with his age, which, IIRC, is 82 or so. My dad,
who is almost 83 was in Army at the end of the war. However, he never
went overseas. Instead, he joined the typewrite corps prior to
discharge. My uncle Al was not so lucky. He came home in a casket. Nor
was my Uncle Joe, who ended up in England fixing planes. And my Uncle
Francis, who was drafter during the Korean War.

WWII was not merely a contest of attrition between

Not one war, not a war, nor 20th century wars, ALL wars. In any war
both sides "know" they are moral. It's the winner who defines who was
morally superior. Too bad that hurts your tender, morally superior
feelings.

Who won WWII anyway? If the USA did why are we driving so many Jap
cars and what was that cold war with the commies about? Did we win or
lose the cold war? We must have lost or I wouldn't be typing this on a
commie chink made computer.

You are a first-class jacka$$ Ed. I would rather have 1 Mike than 100
of your less-than-worthless clones in a situation where my life was at
stake.
