My Navy son relayed a story to me about the relief effort in New Orleans. The Navy sent his plane to evacuate people from New Orleans. They were stationed at an Air Force Base and under Air Force orders... sooooooooo The Air Force officer told the people that they could not bring their pets. My son said... It's my plane and these people have nothing left but their pets. The Navy won...and they took the people's pets! |

(use gordon in email) It's not quite joke-of-the-day material but this story reminds me of a little anectdote about President Johnson. One day, LBJ was visiting some military installation or other and, at the end of the ceremony he's to fly out via helicopter. The ceremony ends and LBJ heads for the nearest helicopter. A young officer assigned to guide him, addresses him and says, "That's not your helicopter, Sir. Your helicopter is that one over there." LBJ replied, "Son, they are ALL my helicopters." Good one!... |

'The gullibility of a trusting and doting dad knows no bounds' I'll just attribute it to your lack of military knowlege and a slightly blowhard son who knows this and took a chance that you wouldn't broadcrast it all over the world...oops... Well my son has been in the military for 18 years and his dad was in 4 years. What he reported is absolutely true. Anyone that has been in a real military would know this. |
