Maybe we can use "Turning Japanese"?

And *where* is "Beep-Beep"?!

I think the real title is "The Little Nash Rambler" and I think the
author was Spike Jones, who was the Weird Al Yancovic of his day, I think
(just a couple years before my time).

Before mine too, actually - I was a toddler, but it actually is called
"Beep-Beep" - I have it in my Dr. Demento collection.

My favorite car song: "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena." "She'll give
'em a length and she'll shut 'em down..." I think it was recorded by Jan
and Dean but I'm not sure.

Or the Beach Boys - all of them sound like they have testicular injuries.
LOL

:-)

Natalie
"Wipeout" has my vote. Wife picked up a ticket for speeding cause she was
sooooooooo into the music.

Jan and Dean originally recorded it, and I think the Beach Boys covered it.

One day in 1988 in Fayetville NC, I was passed by a 1968 bright red hopped
up (Super Stock) Dodge. And it was being driven by a little old lady. I
guess the little old lady from Pasedena moved to Fayettenam.

Oh, man, don't let anyone around here catch you saying "Fayette Nam"!

They hate that.

A lot.

There's no accounting for taste, but it is a useful bit of info when
"discussing" his/her driving records.

In her defense (musically), she has never, before or since, played, owned,
or hummed "wipeout". Just that one day, on "camera".

So you know where Bragg is and the AFB? My brother bought my second 80 SR-5
on the strip there in 1988. Where do you think I learned the term from?

Dude, hubby is stationed at Pope. I just fired them as my medical facility
(really tough to do, when your husband is officer-in-charge of lab and
x-ray), but they're just too over-burdened, and difficult to deal with.
They're all *nice people*, but they're too overwhelmed, so getting appts.,
etc is a real chore. I work for civilian doctors, so I figure it'll be a
*lot* easier to deal with them.

I stopped going to Ft. Bragg pharmacy, because they lost my prescriptions
just one time too damned many. And their-"F*ck-you, I'm-a-federal-employee,
therefore-impossible-to-fire" attitudes didn't help.

In the 30 years I've dealt with the military, (as active duty, and now
spouse), this has been the worst experience I've ever had. I think it's
just a symptom of overall stress, though.

I like the area in general, though. When you say "strip" do you mean Bragg
Blvd., Skibo, or what?

Natalie

There is a strip that in 1988 had a lot of car dealers on it. Seems to me
that it was east of the center of town. I only went there once to pick up
plates for the red Toyota, so I could drive it back to Arkansas and put
Arkansas plates on it. (I also had a Smithfield plate on the front,
courtesy of a friend on the paper there.) I think it's Bragg Blvd, but I
can't get the 5Y3GT's warmed up fast enough to remember. . . .

Too bad more folks didn't hear Eleni Mandell's "1970 Red Chevelle" - great
song; not sure about the car, since I've never known anyone who had it.

Being a Paul Simon fan, I'd add "Cars Are Cars" and "Stranded in a
Limousine".

Then what about Harry's Chapin's "Taxi" and Aretha Franklin's "Freeway
of Love"?

Okay, the last 3 have cars *in* them vs. really being *about* cars, &
okay, they wanted only 10.... but still...
